eStruxture is making a bold $750 million investment in Alberta with the construction of CAL-3, the province’s largest and most advanced data centre, reflecting the growing demand for AI technology.
The state-of-the-art facility, located north of Calgary in Rocky View County, will open in the fall of 2026, aiming to meet the growing demand for AI and cloud computing services. CAL-3 will feature a remarkable 90 megawatts of power capacity, giving it the potential to be a critical piece of infrastructure for high-performance digital services.
CAL-3 is designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating energy-efficient systems to support high-density computing needs, which is essential for next-generation AI applications and cloud services. The facility’s Tier III design offers clients flexible, customizable data halls that can scale with increasing digital demands.
Additionally, CAL-3 will be fully integrated into eStruxture’s network, providing redundant inter-site connectivity with its existing CAL-1 and CAL-2 data centers, ensuring reliability and robust infrastructure.
This project highlights Calgary’s growing prominence as a technology hub in Canada, positioning the city as a leader in the digital economy. Todd Coleman, eStruxture’s CEO, emphasized that CAL-3’s development not only strengthens Alberta’s position in the tech sector but also supports the city’s evolving role in global AI and cloud technology advancements.
