WeMaple Wins Gold at MarComms 2024

WeMaple’s documentary, Underground, Underdog: The Eavor Story, the first episode of Season 3, has won gold in the documentary category at the MarComms 2024 Awards. The film chronicles a team of geoscientists and engineers who left behind established careers in oil and gas to pursue the bold, unproven idea of scalable geothermal energy.

The documentary narrates Eavor’s mission to harness the Earth’s core heat through a closed-loop system, turning a concept sketched on a cocktail napkin into a reality with over half a billion dollars in investment. The film has already been screened to enthusiastic audiences in Canada and Germany, garnering praise from industry leaders and stakeholders for its compelling storytelling.

WeMaple joins an impressive roster of gold winners this year, including Wynne, AR Rebuilds After Devastating Storm by Evolve Bank & Trust, which tells the heartfelt story of a small Arkansas community’s resilience in the face of disaster. Other winners include Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation’s Downhill Dreams, which received a platinum award.

WeMaple expresses immense gratitude to its partners, including the Government of Alberta, the Government of Canada, and Telus, whose support is vital in bringing these captivating stories to life.
