World Geothermal Energy Day 2024 set to kick off

World Geothermal Energy Day, a global collaborative initiative that celebrates the profound impacts of geothermal energy, is happening on October 17, 2024. MicroSeismic has been named the executive flagship sponsor of this event and will host a celebration event at Houston’s Karbach Brewery.

The event will acknowledge the innovators, leaders, and operators who drive advancements in this field. In addition to the in-person celebration, World Geothermal Energy Day will feature virtual meetings, events, and webinars, spotlighting key geothermal projects and experts from around the world.

The significance of October 17 can be traced back to a major historical event: the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii in 79 AD. The organization emphasized that his event symbolizes the sheer intensity of Earth’s immense power, and how there’s virtually unlimited energy that is contained within our planet that can benefit humanity today.

This collaboration invites the recognition to the individuals behind the thousands of geothermal systems providing reliable electricity, heating, and cooling to homes, hospitals, and vital facilities worldwide. As many countries work toward achieving net-zero carbon goals, geothermal energy offers a low to no-carbon energy source, which can play a critical role in reducing emissions and supporting the transition to clean electrification. WeMaple’s ongoing collaboration with Eavor Technologies Inc. emphasizes this importance; furthermore, the potential geothermal has to improve energy security for communities, cities, and global economies.

To get involved, attendees can purchase tickets for the Houston event at Karbach Brewery or join the virtual celebrations online. Participants are also encouraged to post on social media and engage with digital platforms to raise awareness about geothermal energy’s role in shaping a sustainable future.
